L.S. Aero Marine, the boat sales store and marina at 73 Lakeside Drive, Bemus Point, NY sold boats directly from Christopher Columbus Smith before Chris-Craft Corporation even existed. The historic building is now an exciting museum with exhibits and activities for the whole family.

Free Lecture Historic Hotels on the Lake: Then and Now. May 29th at 6:30. Jon Schmitz, Chautauqua Institution Archivist and Norman Carlson, Collections Manager, The Fenton History Center. At the turn of the century there were many grand old hotels that dotted Chautauqua Lake. From the early 1800s city dwellers from New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio came to escape the heat and enjoy lakeside living and stayed in one of the many hotels that sprung up. Two of these, The Lenhart in Bemus Point and The Athenaeum Hotel in the Chautauqua Institution, are still accepting guests. Come hear all about the hotels, what caused the demise of most and the status of those that remain from these knowledgeable gentlemen from two great institutions on the lake.
